Flight Of The Buffalo Chapter 7 Book Review

Today I review chapter  of “Flight Of the Buffalo” .  If you read the first post in the series you know that this is a management book that I decided to review for you guys.

PART 2 – The Intellectual Capitalism Leadership Paradigm
CHAPTER 7 – “Coaching Personal Competence”

It is important to coach people and not scoreboards.  We know that coaches should help each person see their own strengths and weaknesses.  This way the coach can help them improve on their weaknesses.  It is easy to see that anyone’s a coach and everyone’s a coach in one way or another.  Being a coach means asking questions and not giving answers.

It should be your focus to create certainty through focused conversations on great performance.  You can also involve the customers in the continuing conversation stream.  Also know that it is important for coaches to raise expectations.  Make sure you vary the role with the needs of the people.

End of Chapter Question: Is the person becoming more capable?

Leadership Solution: Focus on developing the person, not the scoreboard.

I hope you enjoyed this  chapter review and stay tuned as I cover the next chapter
