Flight Of The Buffalo Chapter 6 Book Review

Today I review chapter  of “Flight Of the Buffalo” .  If you read the first post in the series you know that this is a management book that I decided to review for you guys.

PART 2 – The Intellectual Capitalism Leadership Paradigm
CHAPTER 6 – “Create the Ownership Environment”

The first strategic decision is “who should make the decision?”  When your company grows to the point where everyone is stretched it maybe time to ask that question.  This way you get the people within the company to take ownership in the growth and in their position within the company.

Modifying systems to enable ownership will be part of the challenge.  It may take  weekly meetings or charts to track progress.  People need to know the results of ownership actions.  Lastly, if you want ownership behavior you have to pay for it.  Merit increase based on performance should be including when shifting ownership in a company.  All of these factors lead to managing external chaos while keeping customer focus.

End of Chapter Question: Am I creating owners or dependents?

Leadership Solution: If you want them to act like it’s their business, make it their business.

I hope you enjoyed this  chapter review and stay tuned as I cover the next chapter
