Diary of a Wimpy Kid Book Review

“Diary Of A Wimpy Kid”, Jeff Kinney

The book “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” is a funny look at how tough it can be when you are a kid.  We get first hand insight into the life of a pre-teen and all the trouble that comes with being, well, you at that age.

In such a simple matter of fact voice the author introduces us into young boy’s personality and family.  We are introduced to his little brother who still can’t talk and pushes his patients to the limit.  His older brother, who like most older brothers, picks on him merciless, and gets away with it.  We meet his friends who come in all kinds of personalities and wisdoms.

I was raised with two older brothers and a younger sister.  The books rings true for me in that I went through and had many of the same thoughts and realizations about life.  It connects with its readers in this way.  The language is easy to understand, read, and relate to.  His antics relate to many pre-teens lives and easily make the characters our friends.

The book is an easy read and I was surprised to find myself laughing as I read.  I would recommend it to anyone with an hour or two to get some fun, clean, innocent laughs.
